DogFence N.I. Hidden Fences

 How the system works.

The invisible pet fence system keeps an eye on your pet by transmitting a coded digital FM radio signal through the boundary cable installed around your garden, paddocks etc. There is no electricity passed through the cable, purely the digitally encoded FM radio signal, therefore, if the cable is broken or touched no shock will be given.  This harmless radio signal is picked up by a light weight waterproof receiver collar.

When the pet comes within 4 - 6 feet of the boundary cable (preset on the transmitter) the pets receiver collar will pick up the radio wave and will give the dog an audible warning beep informing him to go back, if the dog continues further (or stays in the audible warning zone for more than 8 seconds the Anti Linger feature steps in and) the pet will receive a mild electrical stimulus (shock) through the  receiver collar. The shock has been proven to be 1/4 of a static shock that you would receive in everyday life from your car door etc. The shock frightens the pet and it will run back into the safe zone laid out by you (area of garden not excluded). If your pet become stuck in the correction zone as it is possible for some pets to get confused, it will not continuously get zapped as this system has a built in auto shutdown.  If the pet is in the correction zone for more than 15 second the receiver collar will switch off automatically, giving the pet time to return to the safe zone, due to the training. Making the DogWatch hidden fence system effective and humane, and allowing your pet to enjoy the freedom they deserve to roam and play.

What is Safelink?

Safelink is our patented FM digital technology that provides the maximum protection against false activation of the receiver collar caused by stray radio signals.  DogWatch is the most secure invisible fence system available.

AM Verses FM (Safelink)

Why use FM? - Security! - the police, fire Brigade & Ambulance services all use FM, the FM digital signal ensures that no interference is received.  An easy comparison is tuning your radio to an AM radio station, you will receive interference from other users on similar channels - this can be the same with the invisible dog fence and in order to keep your pet safe from stray activation of the collar DogWatch hidden fence systems use our patented FM technology - safelink.

Electrical noise soured (televisions, computer monintors, light dimmers, motors, etc. are AM).

  • FM receivers ignore AM signals
  • Can work in electrical noise enviroments.
  • Output power remains constant with the amount of modulation.
  • Less risk of receiving partial signals.

How big an area will it cover?

From a small garden to a maximum of 200 acres. Special needs can sometimes be accommodated;

How does my dog learn where the boundary is?

Your dog learns the boundaries through voice commands and visual flags that are set inside the fence. The dog goes through a simple training session for each day for 3-7 days (if the system is installed by DogFence we will carry out our 4 stage training programme on the day of installation and leave the customer with a very simple reinforcing programme for approx 2 -3 days after the day of installation – usually 5 mins per day). With training, the dog remembers the placement of the flags and is taught to stay within the border. During the training period, flags are slowly taken away. If the dog goes to within 2
– 10ft of the boundary wire (variable according to property size etc), he will hear a warning sound that means he is getting close to the correction field. If the dog reaches the correction zone, he will receive a mild static correction.

Will the stimulation from the collar hurt my dog?

No. This type of stimulation has been used in dog training for over 40 years. A dog’s skin resistance is about 20 to 25 times greater than that of humans. The static shock
Correction voltage is about one-fourth of that of a static electricity shock that you get around the house or in your car.  Furthermore, the amount of correction can be adjusted so that a dog receives the appropriate level of stimulation to its size or personality. DogWatch hidden fence systems have been tested by a major veterinary college, and are used and recommended by veterinarians, dog behaviorists and pet owners worldwide.

Will the system work for more than one dog or cat?

Yes. There is no limit to the number of dogs or cats a system can protect at one time.

Can my dog get out?

If the initial training was done properly, this will rarely happen. If the dog does get out, check to make sure the collar is on securely. You may also increase the range of the signal to keep the dog further from the boundary or increase the correction level. We are also available to support you. There are many ways to adjust the DogWatch System. DogWatch uses FastReact ™ technology which makes our receiver response times the quickest worldwide.

What is meant by receiver response time?.

With the new FastReact ™ transmitted code, the receivers will respond in less than 0.125 seconds

How does response time help in pet containment?

A dog running at 20mph covers 14ft in 0.5 seconds and 3.6 feet in 0.125 seconds.  At 10mph, a dog could get 7 feet into the correction zone before the receiver collar would activate on or nearest competitors system.  The dog would only get 1.75 feet with the DogWatch FastReact system, making the DogWatch hidden fence system the fastest and most secure system available.

AutoMemory

Each pet has their own correction level set.  The performance series collars constantly monitor your pets level and if necessary adjust the training level.  The receiver correction level will increase by ONE LEVEL if your dog enters the avoidance zone twice in any 24 hour period.  The receiver lifts the level for a maximum of 24 hours and then, providing the pet stays out of the signal field automatically adjusts the receiver back down to the original level set.  This feature gives extra security for customers whose dogs have added temptation to leave the boundary, i.e sheep, deer, poultry & game etc.
